Win 10 Tip -  How To Repair Windows 10

The fastest, easiest, most reliable method when fixing an error in Windows 10 is to complete what is called an "in-place" reinstall. Note: The computer must be able to boot into Windows 10 since the user will be starting the install from a running instance of Windows 10. How well Windows 10 doesn't matter; what matters is that the user can boot Windows 10, log in, and get to the desktop. If you don't have a copy of Windows 10, one can be downloaded using the following site/tools.

It's best to read through the article in order to determine if an "in-place" reinstall is practical for you.

As the article mentions, an "in-place" reinstall won't affect any data or programs already installed as long as one follows the directions and makes sure a check is next to Keep Files and Apps.

Example: The Store Apps and Menu have become corrupted for some reason, but you can still boot into Windows 10. Or, programs are running slowly, error messages continue to pop-up, etc.

The in-place reinstall process has existed since Windows 7.

Remember: This won't work if you can't run Windows 10; you DO NOT want to use this method to boot from a DVD or USB to "fix" an installation.
